While we try to keep a core string quartet, our other members are often our freelance friends from across the UK, depending on where we are playing and other work we might all be engaged with! But whether we are working with our ‘normal’ setup or with others, they are always our faves for the gig and we’ll always guarantee some great music!

Alex Postlethwaite

... is a freelance violinist based in the West Midlands after moving from London five years ago. He is in demand as orchestral leader, chamber musician, soloist and recording artist having worked with many top chart acts including the Divine Comedy and Kinobe, whose hit “Slip into something more comfortable” was featured on the Kronenbourg advert. Solo appearances include performances of violin concerti by Schnittke, Shostakovich, Prokofiev, Szymanowski, Delius, Beethoven and others.. Hobbies include making beer, occasional star gazing when it’s not wet and cold, and looking after three youngish kids. Locally, he is the leader of Shrewsbury Symphony Orchestra.

Jane Park

...was a performance undergraduate in Cardiff, receiving the Ernest and Doris Haigh Memorial Award for achievement and commitment to studies while there, and has a masters degree in Contemporary Music Studies from Goldsmiths College, University of London. After moving to Shropshire with hubbie Alex (above), she now now works as an Educational Physchologist, combining this amazing job with her professional freelance work in orchestras, ensembles and operatic societies. Solo appearances include two performances of Beethoven’s Romance in F, Bach’s Concerto for Oboe and Violin and in Berio’s Duetti with Alex. Hobbies include studying for German A level and watching Carlisle United!.
